IP Voice Access
Before the arrival of Internet Protocol (IP), all voice calls, voice messaging and facsimile had to be routed over the public switched telephone network (PSTN). Businesses today, however, are presented with a more cost-effective option of directing all communications over their existing data network using a Voice over IP service such as Telstra’s IP Voice Access.
Using VoIP capability to integrate voice and data communications into a single infrastructure delivers innumerable commercial benefits, not least substantial cost savings and improved operational efficiencies, especially if your current network has spare capacity.
One of the key functionalities provided by an IP-based voice network is that it can facilitate tasks and provide services that may be more difficult or more expensive to implement using the PSTN, for example, the ability to transmit more than one telephone call over the same broadband connection. The use of IP Voice Access will enable you to route all voice calls – whether local, national or international – simultaneously over the same IP network.
VoIP is also extremely flexible, allowing you to adapt or expand your telephony infrastructure quickly and easily in order to meet changing business requirements, such as office expansion or increasing workforce mobility.
Telstra offers three service delivery options for voice over IP, utilising a Telstra IP Virtual Private Network or Dedicated Internet Network, the public Internet, or a combination of both depending on your precise needs.
